Other: good luck charm. Kroeber says this was a tree or shrub which produced a walnut worn by children for good luck. It was worn around the neck or wrist. The nut was thought to resemble a skull, and thus to scare away ghosts.

A Hazelnut shrub in Colorado. This is the only nut-bearing plant of the Front Range of Colorado, but Kroeber's information on 'cut nose bush' likely refers to Oklahoma.
