Julia Hirschberg

Julia Hirschberg is Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University. She has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Earlier, she worked at Bell Laboratories and AT&T Laboratories, conducting esearch on text-to-speech synthesis, prosody, and human-computer interfaces. She has been editor-in-chief of Computational Linguistics and an editor-in-chief of Speech Communication. She served as President of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) from 2005-2007 and is currently on the board of the CRA-W. She is a fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and ISCA. She works on prosody, emotional speech, deceptive speech, text-to-scene analysis and Spoken Dialogue Systems.
