Abbas Benmamoun

Abbas Benmamoun is Professor of Linguistics and Director of the School of Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His broad research interests include syntax and morphology, with special focus on comparative studies of Arabic varieties and Semitic languages. He has published on agreement, tense, negation and negative polarity, the construct state, clitic left-dislocation, word order, root and pattern morphology and the syntax-morphology interface. He is author of The Feature Structure of Functional Categories (2000, OUP) and co-author of Arabic Syntax (2010, CUP).
