Rusty Barrett

Rusty Barrett is Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the University of Kentucky. He received his MA in Russian and East European studies from Yale University and his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Barrett had previously held positions at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and the University of Chicago. His research interests are language and gender/sexuality, sociocultural linguistics and Mayan languages. His book, From Drag Queens to Leathermen: Language and Gender in Gay Male Subcultures is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
