Primary funding for the project was provided by a Natioinal Park Service Historic Preservation Grant to the Northern Arapaho Tribe (Grant No. 56-04-NA-5608).
The images, audio, and video recordings on this website were obtained by student researchers at the University of Colorado, Wind River Tribal College, WY, and by Dr. Andrew Cowell, working in collaboration with members of the Northern Arapaho Tribe. They are copyrighted through the National Park Service as part of this project. The single-word audio files of Arapaho words were provided by the Northern Arapaho Tribe. These were not produced with the highest quality equipment, and we hope someday to redo these recordings, perhaps at CU, to produce an improved sound quality.
The different web pages were produced by students at WRTC and CU, and by Dr. Cowell. Editing of images and audio and video recordings was done by these same people. The final assembly of the website was done by Andrew Cowell, and by a graduate student at CU, Shannon Szameitat, working for the Center for the Study of Indigenous Languages of the West under subcontract with the Northern Arapaho Tribe. She also produced the final movies. Please note that many different students and groups worked on this project; in addition, earlier work done by students of CU and Wind River Tribal College, collaborating with the Northern Arapaho Tribe and Dr. Cowell, has also been incorporated. The first part of the website (General Introduction and Arapaho Narratives) in particular is stylistically "eclectic," to say the least. But it represents the diversity of relationships which have developed over the years between the Arapahos and people in Colorado, and should be appreciated from that perspective.

Originally, this project was designed and distributed in the form of CD's, but has since been modified for the online access. Some of the material in these CD's is part of a website (Link from here) on Northern Arapaho language and culture, hosted by CU's CSILW program. That website is designed for general public outreach and education. It does not include the depth of materials of the current website, but has additional interactive components which users may find interesting.
