Both in terms of reader reaction, fear of sparking sadness, anger, or bad reviews, and in terms of *PRO* being overly precious with your characters and ideas, to the point where it becomes obvious you're unwilling to mess with anything or put anyone important in real danger, which does a lot to kill suspense.
