< Back to Faculty Resources

This page contains information about course materials and resources that you may wish to use in your Institute courses. This includes information about creating course websites using the University of Colorado's CULearn (Blackboard) course tools, requesting lab spaces, and making course materials available to students.

CU Learn: Course Websites

We are currently adding all Institute faculty to the CU system. Once we have completed that, you will be able to use your CU identikey to log in to the system. At that time, you will be able to submit a request for a CULearn website. Your graduate assistants will be supporting you as you set up your CULearn site prior to the Institute, and will be available to assist you throughout the summer. We will let you know when you have been granted access to the CU system and provide log-in information.

Course Materials

Electronically available materials may be uploaded to your CULearn course website. Students enrolled in the course will be able to download them from there. More information on how to do this will be provided when faculty have access to the CULearn system. You may also put electronic copies of materials on reserve at the University Libraries website upon your arrival if you do not wish to place them on CULearn. To determine whether a given article or other work is obtainable electronically, consult the Chinook Library Catalog.

If you wish to use personal book chapters and articles that aren't already in electronic format, we strongly suggest that you scan them as pdf files for upload to your CULearn site or E-reserves, as photocopying resources for both students and faculty will be limited here. We strongly encourage all faculty to scan materials prior to arrival, as scanner resources here are limited. If you don't have a scanner readily available or you require assistance with scanning, please contact us and we may be able to help.

Personal hardcopy materials that cannot be scanned may be placed on reserve at Norlin Library. Forms are available at the Reserve Desk in Norlin, and staff will be able to assist you. Please ensure that these materials are not already available, either in hard copy or electronic form, through the UCB Library System. You can do so by consulting the Chinook Library Catalog.

Regarding library reserves (both electronic and physical material), the following websites will provide you with more information on how to put material on reserve for your courses: Reserves and E-reserves.

If you would like to order any books for your course, you may place orders for books online with the CU Bookstore. The deadline for ordering textbooks for the summer session is March 15th. We realize that this deadline for ordering books is somewhat soon, but in order to ensure that the bookstore can get in the books in time for the start of the Institute, we need to get the orders in early.

All orders through the CU Bookstore will require the following information:
