Stephen Wechsler received his PhD in Linguistics from Stanford University in 1991 and his BA in English from the University of California, Berkeley in 1979. He is Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin. A specialist in theoretical syntax, Wechsler has focused on three research areas: the semantics of first- and second-person indexicals (see his June 2010 article in Language), the semantics and morphosyntax of grammatical agreement (Wechsler and Zlatic 2003, The Many Faces of Agreement, CSLI Publications) and the interface between word meaning and syntax, which is the topic of a book he is writing for Oxford University Press.
