Alice C. Harris

Alice C. Harris is Professor of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She received her PhD in Linguistics in 1976 at Harvard University and later taught at Vanderbilt University and at SUNY Stony Brook. She holds the Collitz Professorship at the 2011 Linguistic Institute. Her current research interests include historical linguistics (especially historical morphology), languages of the Caucasus, multiple exponence, morpheme order, word and sentence processing in endangered languages, and word-based and OT approaches to the analysis of complex morphology.
