Elaine Chun

Elaine Chun is Assistant Professor of English and Linguistics at the University of South Carolina. Her research examines the language practices of Asian Americans in popular media and multiethnic settings, specifically as these practices relate to ideologies of race, gender, and class. Her most recent work has investigated the use of stereotypical racialized and gendered language styles in mocking practices at a Texas high school. She received her PhD in linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007.
