Mary Bucholtz

Mary Bucholtz is Professor of Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she is also affiliate faculty in the Department of Feminist Studies and the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley. She has held previous positions at Texas A&M University and Stanford University. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, discourse, language and identity, language, gender, and sexuality, language and youth, African American English, Mexican and Chicano Spanish, language and scientific practice and the linguistic diversity of California.
