Named because an individual named ‘Gun’ who fasted at this spot.

Arapaho elders had not seen this lake in many years until 2004. They were eager to visit it because of the name and stories connected to it, but were disappointed when they arrived there, because of all the commercialization. They said the lake had lost all its power.
