The above word is given in Kroeber’s 1916 report (he translates it as ‘who constantly runs’). The word for gopher may have been used for mole as well by some people. The Arapaho word for ‘gopher’ is used to mean ‘mole’ by the Gros Ventres. The Eastern Mole (Scalopus aquaticus) barely ranges into eastern Wyoming.
