Swainson’s Hawk and the Arapaho

The first two names above are given for ‘a kind of hawk.’ Though no elders currently can identify this name specifically with the Swainson’s Hawk, the fact that all the other common hawks in the area have other names suggests that this may be the name for this species, though it is perhaps also simply an older, general word for ‘hawk.’
