Ferruginous Hawks and the Arapaho

This name is also used for large falcons, and is perhaps used for any raptor species in general other than eagles, though the elder who identified the name with the Ferruginous Hawk stated explicitly that it was used for ‘the hawk with the solid white tail.’ Feathers were used decoratively and ceremonially.
