Location

around large rivers and lakes in the summer. More widespread in migration.

 

Bald Eagles and the Arapaho

Hayden gives yet another term for this bird: <nat-sa’-i>. The term may be néétesé’ei[t], which would be a version of the first word above. If this is so, then it suggests that at least the first word is not a translation of the English, as might first appear.

The feathers were widely used decoratively and ceremonially.
