Bluebirds and the Arapaho
The Mountain Bluebird seems to be the prototypical ‘blue bird’ of the Arapaho. Mythological stories exist about the ‘blue bird’ and it is apparently this species which is referred to (see Dorsey and Kroeber’s “Traditions of the Arapaho,” stories #144-46).
